POSTDOCTORAL
POSITION IN STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY
Institute of Molecular Biology and Departments of Physics
and Biology
University of Oregon
A postdoctoral position is immediately
available for structural
studies of the CagA protein from Helicobacter pylori, which causes
oncogenic
transformations in eukaryotic cells. This position will be part of a
collaborative effort between the laboratories of Profs. Karen Guillemin
and S.
James Remington. The overall study will consist of a multidisciplinary
approach
involving crystallography and other structural methods combined with
genetics
and cell biology to understand the fundamental mechanisms of CagA
activity. The
successful candidate will have opportunities to work in either
laboratory, but
the immediate thrust will be structural studies of CagA and fragments
thereof. Required are a Ph. D. for work in a
related
area as well as practical expertise in one or more of the following
areas:
macromolecular crystallography, nuclear magnetic resonance, molecular
biology
and protein biochemistry. The initial period of employment is for one
year
starting as soon as possible with renewal for one to two years possible
thereafter. Salary will be commensurate with experience and NIH
standards.
Please send an application letter, curriculum
vitae and arrange for three letters
of reference to Professor S. James Remington, Institute
