The Position: The Protein Sciences group at Roche Palo Alto is seeking a Protein Chemist for purification and characterization of membrane proteins (such as GPCRs and Ion-Channels). The successful candidates will interact with the Molecular Biology Group, the Protein Structure Group, the Screening Group and Molecular Pharmacologists to insure that the purified proteins can be successfully utilized in our drug discovery efforts. Automated, high throughput technologies will be employed, where appropriate, so that the best recombinant expression systems and purification conditions can be identified expeditiously. Who you are: A BS/MS with 5 years experience in an industrial or academic laboratory and a proven track record in membrane protein purification or a Ph.D with 2 years postdoctoral experience in membrane protein biology is required. In addition to experience purifying and characterizing proteins the successful candidate should have an aptitude for automated, high throughput robotics that will be used to develop optimal purification methods.
