To add to Kay's announcement... There is also going to be another, "official", ccp4 wiki, distinct from Kay's wiki, and fulfilling a different purpose. We're in the early stages of developing it at the moment. The precise roles will probably evolve over time, but currently we see them as follows:
"Official" CCP4 wiki: This is primarily aimed at providing more up-to-date and more easily updated documentation for the software, as well as a broader crystallographic knowledge base. It will be GUI-oriented, unlike the existing documentation. It will be written mainly by developers and experienced users, and will be curated - so editing will not be completely open. I hope to be able to release it by the end of the month (but I've been saying that for several months already). "Community" wiki: (i.e. Kay's announcement). This will be far more community oriented, open to all contributors, and hopefully will collect good stuff from the bulletin board, as well as any other material people want to add. I hope, also, that because it is not hosted by CCP4, that it will be able to provide an independent voice! It is certainly useful to have a forum in which unofficial, and if necessary, critical viewpoints can be expressed. We also hope to link between the two wikis, and when appropriate, copy material between them. This is all developing rapidly though, so things may change!
