A reference to Xtalview/xfit and MIFit came up in a thread without subject line. The poster is correct that MIFit is a successor to XtalView. MIFit is under active development and is free to academics. It runs on Windows and Linux. MIFit can be obtained from
http://mi.active-sight.com/download.html Besides the model-fitting applications, MIFit contains a set of applications for structure solution and refinement as well as a ligand dictionary editor for generating ligand refinement restraints. One suggestion on the XtalView/xfit problem is that it might be a result of trying to run on a 64-bit computer.
