Project Description:

Responsibilities include conducting scientific research using neutron scattering as a primary research tool, which will promote and support the use of the Macromolecular diffractometer (MaNDi) at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS).

Over expression and purification of target recombinant proteins for neutron diffraction studies.

Collaborate with scientists in Oak Ridge National Laboratory and other research institutions to fabricate samples for neutron scattering experiments.

Travel to other neutron sources to execute neutron scattering experiments and analyze the experimental data.

Publish research results in scientific journals

Assist MaNDi instrument scientist (Leighton Coates) and the design team to ensure that the design meets the user community requirements

Qualifications: Ph.D. degree required in other physical sciences
Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment.
