Dear all,

We have an opportunity for a highly motivated crystallography scientist to join the protein structure group at Genentech. The successful candidate will participate actively in our structure-based drug discovery programs and engage in the structural elucidation of proteins and protein complexes of significant scientific and/or therapeutic interest. Job responsibilities include construct design, data collection in-house and at synchrotrons, and structure solution of proteins and protein/ligand complexes. As an integral member of project teams you will interact with medicinal and computational chemists to aid the design of new small molecule compounds, and furthermore will collaborate as a structural biologist with scientists within the Protein Engineering Department and throughout the Research organization.

Requirements:

PhD in a relevant discipline and at least 3 years of postdoctoral training, preferably with some experience in small molecule drug discovery. The successful candidate will show evidence of successful, independent contributions in science, as demonstrated by a strong publication/patent record. Extensive knowledge in all aspects of crystallography including data collection and processing, structure solution (MR. MIR, MAD etc), model building etc. is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work in large, multidisciplinary project teams are essential. Knowledge in high-throughput protein purification or modeling techniques would be useful.

If you are interested in joining our team at Genentech, please submit a CV and cover letter referring to position 07-1000019487 at www.gene.com/careers.
