Post-doctoral Fellowship in Structural Biology/Molecular Pharmacology
An opportunity is available to join a collaboration between the
Departments of Anesthesia and Chemistry at the University of
Pennsylvania and the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
in the Drexel University College of Medicine.
This research is aimed at examining the host/guest chemistry
controlling how inhaled anesthetics interact with protein targets.
We use X-ray crystallography, molecular modeling, and calorimetry and
other biophysical methods to investigate the binding of small
volatile anesthetic compounds to various soluble peptides and
proteins. The overall goal is an understanding of inhaled anesthetic
molecular pharmacology.
Qualifications: PhD or MD, previous experience in structural
techniques and in thermodynamics. This position is available
immediately, and is supported by NIGMS.
