The lab was developed in Dynamips and unfortunately the Dynamips topology used didn't match our ATM rack appropriately in that there is no direct R2-R4 link at Proctorlabs. Most of our students use Dynamips, so generating a configuration that matches the lab diagram is the easiest solution.
Frame relay bridging is a good solution to emulate the R2-R5 link, I'm reading through your emails to see which you went with now.
