Hey Guys,

So I thought I should probably have more to report than I actually do. But
here's what today bore for me:

I spent about 2-4 hours talking to Marvin this afternoon and this evening
about various different areas of the SP lab (yep - it's awesome having the
ability to get an IPexpert instructor for a few hours - you should try
having access to one for a whole course ;) ). I bought a car off him to
thank him for his time, so it was win-win (the car is great by the way,
Marvin).

It turns out that there isn't that much more to the SP lab than what was in
the R&S one (I'm solid with what you'd expect - switching, IGP's, most BGP,
frame relay, QOS). The difference seems to be that where the R&S one pushes
you to understand the IGP's really well, the SP one will emphasise BGP and
how it interoperates with MPLS and other protocols (and they threw in IS-IS
- which fortunately I taught in the CCNP courses).

I know where my weaknesses are - MPLS (mainly MPLS TE as I'm comfortable
with the basics), L2 Tunnelling, ATM and PPPoE (I've only ever needed to
configure that on 877 ISR's and there's a GUI for that). So guess where I'm
going to focus first? :-)

Tomorrow I start working through those labs in the IPexpert workbook. I have
to work through every lab for IPexpert anyway, as I'll be adding comments
into the master document as I go. My kickoff point will be Lab 9 on MPLS and
once I've completed it (bear in mind I don't work in continuous blocks) I'll
start on Lab 11 so by this time tomorrow I should have some comments. If
anyone wants to work along with me I'll be taking questions and discussing
those two labs over the next two days (yes, I know Friday is 4th of July,
but I'll be around in the morning before I go to a party at Mark's place -
yep, the famous Mark Snow: IPexpert's Voice & Security instructor). And for
any of you in the Columbus area apparently tomorrow night is Red, White and
Boom which has been talked up to me a lot, so the fireworks better be
awesome.

Work hard, study hard, play hard. That's my plan.

Chat later.

Cheers,
