According to the docs, SM is supported:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios-xml/ios/ipmulti_igmp/configuration/12-4t/imc_interm_mc_helper.html

Since the last-hop router knows the group address, and knows its the last
hop router and is responsible for relaying that group back to broadcast,
I'd certainly expect the last hop router to join the group in SM.

Why not lab it up and prove it for yourself?

hi team,

is it recommended to use dense mode while coverting broadcast to multicast
and finally send it to broadcast receiver ?

bcos is sparse mode..the multicast router will not know who are
receivers...so will not forward the multicast..
