I just looked at the DocCD and it is now enabled by default globally.
However, what if one of the devices has an older version of IOS?

By habitually running MPLS IP  and MPLS LABEL PROTOCOL LDP|TDP you are
guaranteeing it is enabled and that you have defined the correct label
protocol, as well. Some versions of IOS use TDP by default and some use
LDP. Are you going to do a SHOW VER on each router in the core to see which
protocol is default? Just as recently as 12.3(14) TDP was the default.

Ten seconds of prevention is worth more than 10 minutes of trouble
shooting! :-)
