Hi guys, I'm typing "no ip domain-lookup" on every single device i configure so that i don't need to wait those annoying few seconds while IOS tries to broadcast(255.255.255.255) dns lookup's.
It's not hard to enter the "no ip domain-lookup" / "no ip domain lookup" as part of any default template but it seems more logical behaviour to simply don't do lookup's unless a DNS server is configured. My questions: Does anyone know the origin of this 255.255.255.255 default lookup behaviour? Is there any particular reason why Cisco are keeping this behaviour around? And finally, is there anyone out there using a dns service that replies to broadcasts?
