EIGRP task 9.14 says to not use passive-interface as a way to limit routes
being propagated via R4 to R2.

Why didn't they (passive-interface commands) get removed in the solution?
Also, I really liked this task, because you have to read very carefully. I
initially removed the "passive-interface default" and added a bogus MD5
authentication on R4's FA 0/0 and FA 0/1.

However, after reading the solution I realized that the solution was better
because the task did not say to limit expediencies but to limit propagation
of routes IF an EIGRP peer turned up on FA 0/0 or FA 0/1.

I need to really read these tasks more critically.

Anyhow thanks for the great chapter on EIGRP.
