You can't emulate switches, so the Catalyst IOS will not work. Only regular
IOS works.
You can do some switching in the form of the NM-16ESW module in a router.
Like Matt says, use show vlan-switch instead of show vlan. That is the
correct command for displaying vlans on the NM.

You also would want the latest IOS for the 3725, to use the extended range
VLANs and use global config for VLAN configuration. If you use a lower
version or another platform, you still have to use the 'vlan database' to
configure your vlans.
