Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the online format of the exam
documentation is another "psychological" element Cisco added to increase the
difficulty of the overall test.

I took the test in Tokyo on August 31st. I studied, on average, 8 - 10
hours a day for three months for the exam. I walked out of there thinking I
crushed it. I felt very prepared and very confident with my effort when I
left. Unfortunately, the proctor who graded my lab didn't feel the same way
and failed me. It felt like somebody punched me in the stomach when I saw
my score report. My score was very close to passing and I requested a
reread because I didn't agree with a few of my grades. Without violating
the NDA, I had some relatively basic sections within the exam that I
verified several times, including after reboots, but scored very low on. My
reread is still pending... I assume everyone and their mother who took the
version 3.0 lab towards the end requested a reread as a "last ditch
effort." I guess I will just have to wait for the results, but continue to
move forward with the version 4.0 stuff...

If anyone is curious about taking the exam overseas, the proctors will only
speak English, so English speakers have nothing to worry about. At no point
did they speak Japanese to any candidate. The proctor, although Japanese,
was completely fluent in English and there we no language barriers (for
me). I was the only native English speaker in the room. I kind of felt bad
for some of the candidates there because they didn't understand basic
English instructions such as, "The bathroom is over here," but were expected
to take a test written in very sophisticated English. I pinged the proctor
quite a bit for clarification on numerous tasks. As many people have
written before, if you ask the proctor very specific questions regarding a
task and you demonstrate that you know what you are talking about, they are
very helpful. I asked questions such as, "If the question means THIS, then
I will do this. If the question is actually asking THIS, then I will
configure my lab this way. I need clarification as to what the question is
asking in order to proceed."

Anyway, back to studying for V4!!!
