The 2801s I had for my lab have been taken for another project. However, all the talk about gns3/dynamips got me thinking. I've decided to try a hybrid physical/virtual lab.
Here's the proposed setup: gns3 machine - quad core, 4GB ram, (2) 4 port NIC + 2 built-in for a total of 9 usable by gns3. There are no more PCI slots so adding another 4 port card is not possible. (3) 3560 (1) 3550 (1) 2801 (3) 2621 - BB routers Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I count 12 Ethernet interfaces so I need to trim 3 of these. If it were you, which of these connections listed below would you eliminate? R1 - This will be the physical 2801 R2 - cat1 0/2 & cat3 0/2 R4 - cat1 0/4 & cat3 0/5 R5 - cat1 0/5 & cat3 0/5 R6 - cat2 0/6 & cat4 0/5 R7 - cat2 0/7 & cat4 0/7 R8 - cat2 0/8 & cat4 0/8 As always, thanks for the input.
