Hi Mark,
I used IPExpert BLS exclusively, no bootcamps for me, it's too much
for my own packet as I financed this whole CCIE by myself, no
company sponsor, i'm a free agent :-)
My first step was just to listen for the VOD by Scott Morris. I did
this only once, and then hit Vol1 and Vol2 and Vol3. I mixed and
match while doing Vol2 and Vol3, 2 labs from Vol2 then one Vol3 then
again. I did the Vol2 and Vol3 twice. The second run on Vol2 and
Vol3 was the last 4 weeks before my exam date. I took a vacation
holiday for 5 weeks for this.
I had all the reference Bibles as we say on my desk all the time.
1) CCIE Written Study Guide, 3rd Ed
2) TCP/IP Vol1 and Vol2
3) Cisco Router Firewall Security - (i really like this book, it
been with me since I started long time ago, I did CCIE Security
written before but didn't have time to do the lab, work was putting
too much toll on my life then)
4) Cisco QoS and DQOS Study Guide
5) BCMSN - CCNP Study Guide
This 5 books pretty much covers all there is i think.

Congratulations! I bet you and your wife are extremely happy. It's a
huge accomplishment! :)
If you don't mind me asking, did you use the IPEXpert BLS? Also,
did you attend any bootcamps or use workbooks from other vendors?
Or did you use IPExpert exclusively?

And yes, I conquered the beast on the first try, CCIE #26509 !!!! I
basically shouted my heart out when I saw that I passed, I placed my
face on the bed and just shouted, I just couldn't believe it. I gave

Second, I want to give a special thanks to my wife who has been

Third, I want to thank you to a very special friend of mine, he saw
how it is prepared till we went to Sydney to take my exam, he was

And Lastly, thank you IPExpert and this list, I may not be that
noisy on this list, but i've been absorbing all i can from this list
and taking notes of the problem and issue that can arise from each
different technology. I've compiled everything i can on all
situation that can arise.
So, here it it, it's really doable guyz, no magic!!!
To be honest and not breaking anything on the NDA, I didn't finish
all the task, I had 5 task left out so it was really close a call ,
I told my wife and my friend afterwards that if i'll fail this, it's
really going to be very close to the passing mark of 80. But I
really knew i locked down those task that I answered.
I followed what Joe and Jared has always said, don't be tempted to
pound on your keyboard immediately, I wasted close to an hour just
drawing and internalizing what they want before starting.
I screwed up on my Frame Relay in relation to OSPF, it was really my
fault, i guess i was a really nervous, lost 15 minutes on there
troubleshooting, i said to myself, i'm already dead if i can't get
this up and running in 30 minutes , no way i'll pass, it was when i
got back on my feet on this that I got the confidence to have a
chance to pass the exam. and i just pounded on the keyboard like
crazy to catch up thinking along the way all the task that they want
me to do. This is where I said to myself, thank GOD i read the whole
thing already and I knew which direction i'm going to take.
What I did for the OEQ? On my last week before leaving for Sydney, I
just reviewed the CCIE Written Study Guide, TCP/IP Vol1 and Vol II.
took notes on those little things that you take for granted while
simulating.
Wish everybody all the luck, don't let it get into your nervs , if
you will let it, you already lost the battle during the exam. Take
Control and stay on top.
I'm taking a month off, get back to the world now and ordering the
resources for SP, will be at the SP mailing list absorbing again
what i did from here. :-)
