Hello Everyone, PLEASE be advised, the airport is a great place to see Snowy Owls, BUT we all need to remember to be respectful of the "open door" policy extended to us by the airport team. I went into the office last week when I was there and they had just had an upsetting encounter with a birder who went all the way out on the runway to view! This is an airport, with the risks of being where we should not be PROFOUNDLY real. They ask that we all check in when we get there and let them know we are there (if it's during business hours). If it's after hours, just stay in the parking area and go nowhere else. The manager told me private planes use this airport at all hours and it is a risk to them and to us. PLEASE be polite and follow this small request to check in. They could block access at any time if we fall prey to the tragedy of the commons! If you see others not following these practices, please say something. This is a gift to us to have access to viewing this species, whose numbers are declining. Thanks to all of you, for all of us. Hoping this was ok to post....
