On Thursday afternoon at about 4:35, I saw a gray-morph EASTERN SCREECH-OWL along Siena Drive in northeast Ithaca. An hour later, I am still so happy I can hardly sit still.
The owl was in the same cavity where one spent much of last winter, in a broken-off trunk about 13 feet tall in the woodlot about 27 yards south of the intersection with St. Catherine’s Circle, across from the mailbox for 328 Siena Drive. The hole is on the right side of the tree facing south, about a third of the way down from the top.
