Greetings: This is the Syracuse Rare Bird Alert for the week of March 28, 2015.
Highlights--------------
GREAT EGRETGLOSSY IBISEURASIAN WIGEONBLACK VULTUREGOLDEN EAGLESANDHILL

Montezuma National Wildlife Complex (MNWC) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex 
(MWC)------------
     3/30: 6 SANDHILL CRANES were seen from East Road.     4/1: A GREAT EGRET 
was seen from East Road. An EURASIAN WIGEON was seen along the Wildlife Drive.  
   4/2: A GLOSSY IBIS was seen in the mucklands along Rt. 31. Possibly the same 
one(s) were seen from Carncross Road. 

Derby Hill------------
     A strange week. Thousand birds plus days were interspersed with days of 
100 or less. 2,016 raptors were counted on 4/3. 6,167 were counted in all. A 
BLACK VULTURE was seen on 4/1, only the second one of the season. The season’s 
first PALM WARBLER was found today, 4/4.

Onondaga county------------
     4/2: Early PINE WARBLER, FIELD SPARROW and BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER were 
found at Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville.
Extralimital------------
     A WESTERN TANAGER is still being seen on the Cornell Campus at a location 
known as Wee Stinky Glen near Day Hall. The last positive report was on 4/3.
