In case they get scared off or shot before the year is out and can't be found
on the count, be it known that at Stewart Park today were 2 Long-tailed Ducks,
3 American Wigeon, 3 Greater & 1 Lesser Scaup, and 1 Ring-necked Duck, and
yesterday there was one Common Goldeneye and 4 Double-crested Cormorants.
Several other species that would really surprise me by being AWOL on New Year's
Day have also been here for count week, such as Belted Kingfisher, Great Blue
Heron, and Common Loon, Song Sparrow, and on Nelson Road a flock of Cedar
Waxwings.
