This afternoon around 1:45 I briefly saw a non-adult Northern Gannet at Sodus Point. The bird showed its wings, tail, and head proportions well. Was flying to the west, crossed the channel a bit out into the lake. I lost sight of it as it dropped below the horizon. I went to the old light house for some better views of the lake, did not see the bird from that location.
I managed to get several poor images that show some field marks that separates it from some similar species: www.flickr.com/photos/66738724@N04/15384799294/ www.flickr.com/photos/66738724@N04/15387457633/ Joe [email protected] -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
