Yesterday I found a small flock of sparrows working the roadside at the
Goetchius Preserve parking areas, in Caroline on Flat Iron Road. With the 11
Savannahs and 1 Vesper was a single Dark-eyed Junco.

It had a medium gray head and distinct bib, pinkish-brown sides, and brown
back. Face and throat were sharply defined from the light brown side patch. It
did not have the completely sharp line at the nape the way I like to see for
real Oregon Juncos.

Had lighter gray nape, contrasting with darker head and brown mantle. Some
brown wash on top of head. Lores and around bill just slightly darker than rest
of face. Gray in greater secondary coverts, medians with brown. Bill light pink
with indistinct dark tip.
