OOB-Cortland County

2:30 Reading more reports of birding the Tioughnioga, I decided to try an hour
or two (more like two) of the river this afternoon, after a quick ride out to
Foster Moore Road (outside of Homer) to see if Chris Wood's Lapland Longspurs
might still be there. No luck finding them, or the snow buntings.

1 Northern Harrier-in fields near intersection of Foster-Moore Rd and Foster Rd
35 Red-winged blackbirds-my first this year

1 Turkey Vulture

Tioughnioga River and road crossings with bridges:

Killawog Road-
    5 Redheads
    8 Common Goldeneye
    1 Common Merganser
    22 Mallards
    28 Canada Goose
East River Crossing-
    2 Hooded Merganser (pair)
    2 Canada Goose
    1 Mallard
Young's Crossing
    2 Red Breasted Mergansers (pair)

There was a large flock of Canadas along East River Road, but no safe place to
pull off and sift through them to look for Chris Wood's Cackling Goose he saw
along Killawaog.

pigeons
crows
robins
chickadees
juncos
horned lark

1 rainbow which I truly enjoyed

5 muskrats taking advantage the sun just south of the Young's Crossing of the
river

A raccoon yesterday and muskrats today. Spring can't be denied.
