Attached is the official tally from the 1 January 2014 Ithaca Christmas Bird
Count. This version varies in a few details from the provisional numbers that
Dave Nutter posted earlier; there were a number of additions, corrections, and
adjustments for double-counting. We found 98 species during the day, and had
two more species during count week. Also of note were two recognizable hybrids.

We had over 110 participants and found a total of 38,494 individual birds. We
did not add any new species to the count, unlike the last few years, but we did
manage new high tallies for eight species. Two of these were species only
recently added to our list (Double-crested Cormorant, Bald Eagle), a few others
are regulars who are experiencing local (and continental) population booms
(Cooper's Hawk, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Common Raven, Dark-eyed Junco), and the
other two were species that we occasionally get in very small numbers (Northern
Saw-whet Owl, Winter Wren).

Thanks to all who make this count such a success and a fun event.

Kevin
