Friday afternoon I spent time in the Interlaken area looking for
Short-eared Owls. While I wasn't successful finding them there was a
spectacular late afternoon Snow Goose flight. Canadas and Snows had been moving
all afternoon in small groups, but by dusk the numbers really picked up. By the
time I moved from my spot for a change of scene I had counted 11,500 Snow Geese
and 3500 Canadas. Many more skeins of Goose sp. were distant on both horizons
and aren't reflected in these numbers. I also had my first of the season
Rough-legged Hawk. It was a beautiful afternoon Owls or no.

Happy birding,

Gary
