Subject: HEADS UP - Lime Hollow landsReport (not mine) from the Planning Board meeting last night:Glen Reiswebber, of Lime Hollow, spoke to them about the proposal to "surplus" and sell the 18 acres to Cortlandville Sand and Gravel. The 18 acres was given to the people of the County to remain a protected preserve, in 1978. This "surplus" proposal was sched. to be voted on by full Leg on 9/26/2013. It was taken off the agenda because people started protesting when word got out. Glen was brilliant.Everyone was hemming and hahhing about why would the County want to sell land that was gifted to them.............."It is because the County has been mining gravel on the protected wetland preserve." Bruce Weber, code officer, confirmed that the Highway Dept. has been using Cortlandville Sand and Gravel 's permit to mine not on C Sand G property, but illegally, on the land that the Gunzenhauser's gifted to the county in 1978, to preserve. The idea behind"surplus" was if the land is sold...it covers tracks..avoids DEC fines ...etc....~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~If everyone on this list who lives in Cortland County got outraged and called or wrote your County legislator, the "problem" might get solved quickly.Marie McRaeTompkins County, but I am really mad!
