Several raptors were in the vicinity of the East Rd impoundments including 6 Bald Eagles, 2 Red-tails, 2 N. Harriers, Merlin, and an ad. Peregrine Falcon that was observed harassing a Bald Eagle. Hundreds of Mallards, Am Black Ducks, Tundra Swans, and gulls, including 2 Glaucous, 2 Iceland, ad L. Black-backed, and juv "Nelson's" (Herring x Glaucous) were in the fields N and S of Route 31. Heading south on Route 89 between Armitage and Mays' Point Roads we came across a juv. Red-headed Woodpecker perched on a utility pole on the west side of the road. The pole is in a plowed field just north of the dilapidated barns to the north of house #292. The bird was present for at least 10 mins on the pole and was still there when we left.
