We also saw this bird on Lee Road in Dryden. My husband and I were watching the birds at our bird feeders suddenly take cover in the spruce tree and the turkeys were even on high alert. We then noticed this hawk like white bird glide to the North. I could not identify it with my guides. Maybe the same bird. ________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] on behalf of Richard Tkachuck [[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, December 23, 2012 4:12 PM To: CAYUGABIRDS-L Subject: [cayugabirds-l] Big white bird, probably nothing
About 15 minutes ago, we saw a big white bird flying between Rt 13 and Dutcher Road on North Road in Dryden. It seemed to have an all white belly and the under wings were all white. It was not a gull nor a snow goose. Flew like a raptor. Maybe a leutistic hawk, don't know. First thought was snowy owl, but may be wishful thinking.
