I looked for the sparrow this afternoon ~ 2:45 - 3:15, but then had to leave for an appt . Of course, right before I left, I did spot a sparrow first in a small tree, then in the brush on the south east side of the pond, but I could not get a good look at it before it hopped down into the bottom of a bush and disappeared. If I had to guess, I would say the one I saw was NOT a LeConte's, but I did not get a long enough look to be sure. Given its secretive nature it is possible that the bird is still around, and that there were just too many people for it to feel comfortable coming out into the open, but it seemed not to be there. To add to the disturbance, at mid-morning tractors arrived to mow most of the community garden and much of the weedy area to the south, and to mow the already-cut corn stubble field immediately west and north of the pond. I assume by the lack of information on eBird, the CayugaRBA, and Cayugabirds-L that the bird was not re-found in the afternoon either. --Dave Nutter-- Cayugabirds-L List Info: Welcome and Basics Rules and Information Subscribe, Configuration and Leave Archives: The Mail Archive Surfbirds BirdingOnThe.Net Please submit your observations to eBird! -- -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
