I made a spur of the moment drive this afternoon to Summerhill hoping
to see something new. The trees were wintery looking with about an inch of new
snow. A stop at Hovel Chalet didn't surprise me with anything unusual, but did
lead to a hot tip of 17 EVENING GROSBEAKS at 1270 Lake Como Road. They were no
where to be found when I arrived, but I did hear one COMMON REDPOLL and the
niger feeders at 1196 were mobbed by 40 PINE SISKINS. I'm really looking
forward to that "zipper" call livening up my winter walks.

Happy birding,
