I made a spur of the moment drive this afternoon to Summerhill hoping to see something new. The trees were wintery looking with about an inch of new snow. A stop at Hovel Chalet didn't surprise me with anything unusual, but did lead to a hot tip of 17 EVENING GROSBEAKS at 1270 Lake Como Road. They were no where to be found when I arrived, but I did hear one COMMON REDPOLL and the niger feeders at 1196 were mobbed by 40 PINE SISKINS. I'm really looking forward to that "zipper" call livening up my winter walks.
