Drowning out the sounds of the snow shovel this morning was the barking/honking of hundreds of SNOW GEESE passing low overhead, with a few soft BLUEBIRD songs to fill in the spaces.
Note on the bluebirds: We had 7 of them all winter. They roost in the eaves of our house, tucked in out of the weather, in a space that is visible from my north-east bedroom window.
