I walked to Treman Marine Park again today, 26 Dec.
Late this afternoon the KING EIDER was east of the red
lighthouse near 10 COMMON MERGANSERS.
The single SNOW GOOSE was sleeping on the ice edge
off Stewart Park.
A juvenile GLAUCOUS GULL was there too for awhile.
There were at least 22 TUNDRA SWANS, 21 unidentified
swans and a maximum of 29 seen at once at Stewart Park:
I'd seen a flock of 14 TUNDRA SWANS fly north, then saw
5 more in flight locally, and 3 more still close by on the ice,
but the 5 I think joined a flock which then totalled 26 in the
water south of East Shore Park, too far for me to tell bill shape.
Two swans which also to joined them might have had Trumpeter-
type bills.  It's worth checking just to watch swans.
Among other waterfowl:  a few GADWALL near a REDHEAD
flock; a male AMERICAN WIGEON near the shore at Treman.
EBird tells me that 11 RUDDY DUCKS is unusual.

Like Paul Anderson, I counted 18 COMMON REDPOLLS
in the birches near the corner of Triphammer Terrace and
Hillcrest Road in Lansing.  Very cute.  Thanks, Bob!

The LAPLAND LONGSPUR continued to be cooperative
on the east peak of Mount Pleasant, nearly opposite the
driveway to the radio towers.  As I arrived I saw 3 small
birds fly west.  Perhaps they had been its Snow Bunting
and Horned Lark companions, which it lacked when I
watched.  Extremely cute. Thanks, Steve & Marie.
