To my surprise this afternoon, while out in my back garden during a
brief sunny spell, a female ruby-throat appeared on my late-blooming
pineapple sage plant. And there I'd been so cross with the plant for
blooming so late this year. Thank goodness it provided some much needed
sustenance for this late migrant.
