Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

10/4: 20 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and 21 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen at
the Visitor’sCenter. BLACK-BELLIED and AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER were seen at the
new shorebird area. At Knox-Marsellus Marsh 3 GREAT EGRETS and 4 HUDSONIAN
GODWITS were seen.
10/8: At Knox-Marsellus Marsh 8 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 1 ROSS’S
GOOSE, and 16 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were spotted.
10/10: A HUDSONIAN GODWIT and 7 GREATER WHITE FRONTED GEESE were seen at
the Visitor’s Center. A (the) HUDSONIAN GODWIT was found at the new shorebird
area. 3 CACKLING GEESE were seen at Benning Marsh. 4 ROSS’S GEESE and 7 GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were found at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. 1NELSON’S SPARROW was
found at Marten’s Tract.
Onondaga County

10/6: 22 species were seen at the Butternut Recreation Trail in the Town
of
Dewitt including a COOPER’S HAWK, a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, and a BLUE-HEADED
VIREO.
Oswego County
------------
10/7: 5 PARASITIC JAEGERS were seen at Derby Hill. Also seen were SURF and
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS.
10/10: At Sandy Pond a BRANT, 11 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, and 16 DUNLIN were
spotted.
Oneida County
------------
10/9: A RED-NECKED GREBE was found on Woodman Pond.
Extralimital

10/10: A PACIFIC LOON was reported from Dean’s Cove on Cayuga Lake. Dean’s
Cove is on the west side of the lake opposite Aurora.
