I'm at the hawthorns now, and I can add two Blue-winged Warblers,
Black-throated Blue-warbler, Palm Warbler, Hooded Warbler, four more
redstarts, three more Nashville Warblers, two more Tennessee Warblers, two
White-crowned Sparrows, Least Flycatcher, Wood Thrush, Veery, and a male
CAPE MAY WARBLER. The last was singing intermittently a little in from about
a third of the way south along the west edge of the orchard.

A search of the lake at Myers Point, Stewart Park, and Hog Hole did not turn
up a Franklin's Gull, to my chagrin but not surprise. I did have a Common
Tern on a buoy off Myers marina, Yellow-throated Vireos at East Shore and
Hog Hole, and a few flyover Indigo Buntings.

Yesterday I spent some in the Montezuma area. Marsh Wrens are back in force
at Railroad Road, where I also had a surprising 7 Virginia Rails and 5 Soras
at various points along the edge of the marsh. I counted at least 10 Black
Terns at Tschache, as well as one Common Tern. Least Sandpipers (27), Dunlin
(3) and Solitary Sandpipers were the residents of the visitor center pond.
The only Cerulean Warbler I heard was near Martens Tract. A hawkwatch from
the roof of the visitor center did not produce any kites, but I did have a
Peregrine Falcon moving north.

Good birding,

I think this is the first time I have been to the Hawthorn Orchard in spring
and not heard a single Wood Thrush. A multitude of Yellow-rumped Warblers
and one Red-eyed Vireo sang persistently, though. Most activity today was in
the Northwest corner. Other birds found between 8:00 and 9:00 included:

Tennessee Warbler-1
Black-throated Green Warbler-2
Common Yellowthroat-1
American Redstart-2
Nashville Warbler-2
White-throated Sparrows-lots
Ruby-crowned Kinglet-1
Gray Catbird-2
