At 5 PM today 25 March 2010 atop the first nest on 5 & 20
east of NY 89, just east of the fence around Jackson's
mower repair shop, an OSPREY was spotted . . . the first
that we have seen this year. None have appeared so far on
the Union Springs nest on Number One Rd. /Center St. E,
out of Union Springs, or on any of the other 6 known nests
between Levanna & Cayuga/Beacon Mills.

About 4:30 we saw an adult BALD EAGLE on the tree next
to the nest on the metal tower at Mud Lock. . . . also a first for
us, although we believe someone may have reported seeing a
pr. in the vicinity several wks. ago. Can't remember for sure.

At the Visitor's Center "pool" we saw at least a doz. each of
Green-winged Teal & A. Wigeon, many N. Shovelers & several
C. Geese in the steady rain. Maybe wet snow tomorrow. Foggy, 44 degrees &
raining steadily here. Our CO daughter reports vicious winds, bitter cold &
close to 2 ft. of new snow atop the 2 ft. from last wk. at her house south of
CO Springs with another storm on the way this weekend. Makes you love NY.
