Years ago, I flushed a grouse in old field that had patches of dogwood, multiflora rose, open grassy areas along with goldenrod. The tallest brush in the old field was probably no more than seven feet high. The grouse flushed and flew about twenty yards flying low to the ground. It crashed right into the only patch of dogwood in its way then fell into the snow. It stood there looking at me and I at it. After about ten seconds of no movement from either of us it flew into the bush again! It repeated this process several times. Eventually it got around the bush and flew off into the nearby woodlands. It didn't appear to be hurt by the collisions but this was likely due the small size and flexibility of what it was running into.

Kind Regards,
