Question #94579 on CatSync changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/catsync/+question/94579
Status: Open => Answered MLynch1985 proposed the following answer: Hello, Thank you for contacting the CatSync-devs team. In order to use this plug-in, you must know the connection information regarding the database in which you would like to import from. You may use the same database that WordPress is installed, but you should be using a separate table. Begin by entering and saving your connection information for the external database. Then, if you need to add a category to group your posts simply create a name and add it. Next you need to specify your post defaults. Here you can choose to allow comments or pingbacks and set the menu order. If this is your first import just set menu order to 0. Finally you arrive at the last form. Here you have three options. Select the table that you want to import form. Then manually type in a column name from that table to be used as the post title. *The column name must be typed exactly as it is in your database or this will not work. We are working on adding a drop-down to list your available columns, so it will be out soon. Finally you select the category in which you want these posts created under, if none show up, return to the second menu and add a category. Once you are ready, you click Execute and the process begins. The first step is to clear any old posts within that category, then it creates new posts using the information from your external database, and finally it adds them to your chosen category. The Append button will do the same without clearing out old posts first, which will allow you to import from several tables into the same category. The remove posts will do just that, based on which category you select it will clear all posts from it. I must warn you though, CatSync is still in active development and there is currently no support for large imports of over a 100 records at a given time. -- You received this question notification because you are a member of CatSync Core Development Team, which is an answer contact for CatSync. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~catsync-devs Post to : catsync-devs@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~catsync-devs More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
