First, thanks for the quick response!

Second, I was just looking at the merging repository as a way to do this and
I’m glad I was on the right track.

Unfortunately, I don’t have think I have time to implement v5 and meet the
project deadline. I haven’t been supporting our CAS install for a couple
years, so I didn’t realize how far behind we are I will be making that a
priority.

Out of curiosity, how do you do this in one line in v5?

Geoff

You need to set up a merging-attribute repository, where one is what you have
and the second is one based on a groovy script, and you let the groovy script
build the attribute by coding that logic in there. Results are merged and
collected. Then you return the attribute you build as usual. Alternatively, you
let AD auto-build the attribute somehow and you fetch like any other
attributes; alternatively you find an attribute in AD that matches what you
need, if any. Alternatively, you switch to 5 and do this in 1 line.

Subject: [cas-user] Create and Return Custom Attribute
I’m on version 4.2.7 and have a new service coming online which I need some
help with. The service expects an email address as the username in a specific
format, but the AD email entry is the user’s email alias and thus doesn’t
always match.

For example:
Joe User logs into the application with JUser123 as their username. This
matches their AD username. However, the CAS client application is looking for
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. Since Joe User set up an
email alias of [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> that is what’s
returned as the principle ID. Since the application is looking for
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>, it’s failing to match up.

I need to make a custom attribute that takes the username the user entered,
appends “@myschool.edu” and passes that back as the principle ID. I know how
to set the principleID in Cas-Management, but I need to figure out how to build
that value.

Can anybody point me in the direction of some documentation to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Geoff
