Based on the code for CONTAINS, that should have worked: https://github.com/Jasig/java-cas-client/blob/master/cas-client-core/src/main/java/org/jasig/cas/client/authentication/ContainsPatternUrlPatternMatcherStrategy.java
You may want to try it with a shorter "contains" pattern (i.e. /customer/portal) and see if it works.
