Sponge Bob Birthday cake

For the sponge cake:

  a.. 350g unsalted butter
  b.. 350g caster sugar
  c.. 4 eggs, beaten
  d.. 350g self-raising flour
  e.. 2tsp baking powder
For the filling:

  a.. Strawberry jam
  b.. Icing sugar
  c.. Butter
  d.. Vanilla essence
For the decoration:

a.. White, yellow, pink, red, green, brown, black and baby blue icing
  b.. Black icing tube
You'll also need:

  a.. 2 x 10in loose bottom cake tins
Method
  1.. Preheat the oven to 180ºC/Fan 160ºC/gas mark 4.
2.. Make a traditional sponge cake by creaming the butter and sugar together
until light and fluffy. Gradually add in the beaten eggs. Once combined sift in
the flour and baking powder the fold in to combine.
3.. Pour the sponge cake mixture into 2 loose bottom cake tins and bake in
the preheated oven for 25 - 30 mints, until the sponge is risen and golden - it
should spring back when lightly touched in the centre. Cool in the tins for 5
mints, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
4.. Beat the icing sugar with the butter and vanilla essence and a little
water if needed. Once the cakes have cooled sandwich them together using the
buttercream and jam.
5.. Cut the cake into a rectangular shape to resemble Sponge Bob then cover
with more jam.
6.. Roll enough yellow icing to cover the cake and trim down. Finish by
cutting shapes for the eyes, mouth, teeth, clothing and spots. Use the black
tube for adding detail such as the cheeks and belt.
