Here's the one I use. It's from a new paper my aunt had circa 1968.
Chocolate Texas Sheet Cake
Bring to boil:
1 cup butter
1 cup water
4 tablespoons cocoa powder I use Hershey's, but any good quality will do.
Remove from heat and add, while hot:
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
Beat in:
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp baking soda
Pour into greased 10x15 baking sheet. Batter will be thin. Bake 375
degrees for about 22 minutes.
Frosting:
Bring to boil:
1/2 cup butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
Remove from heat and stir in:
1 pound confectioners sugar, I sift the sugar so it doesn't have lumps,
since you don't use a mixer.
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup nuts, if desired
Beat well.
Spread over cake as soon as it is removed from oven.
Hope this works for you. I like it because it's quick and easy. Also, if
you forget that carry in you can have this ready to leave the house
(still hot, but out the door) in about 30-40 mins.
