Southern Chocolate Pound Cake
1 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
5 large OR 6 small eggs
3 cups flour
5 - 6 heaping tsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 to 1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating
one minute after each addition. Add dry ingredients and milk
alternately. Stir in vanilla. Pour into large greased and floured
tube pan or 2 loaf pans. Bake at 300 to 325 degrees for 1-1/4 to 1-
1/2 hours, or until done.
Yield: 24 servings
