AVOCADO LOAF CAKE - CIRCA 1959
  
3/4 cup shortening, creamed
2 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
3 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon salt 
3/4 teaspoon allspice
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cup pureed avocado 2 average sizes
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
3/4 cup raisins
Corn syrup optional
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped optional 
  
Preheat oven to 350. Mix sugar and shortening. Beat eggs slightly, stir into 
shortening mixture, add half of flour, beat until smooth, add rest of flour, a 
little at a time, beat until well-mixed. Place all other ingredients in 
separate bowl save last ingredient for sprinkling on top, if desired, blend and 
add to flour mixture.
