OLD FASHION CARROT CAKE

2 c. self rising flour
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, beaten well
2 c. carrots, grated
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. black walnuts
1 1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 c. nuts, chopped

Mix well flour, sugar and cinnamon. Add oil, eggs,
vanilla and black walnuts. Beat well. Add carrots and nuts
last. Bake in tube pan for 1 1/4 hours at 375 degrees.

Topping:
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbsp. corn syrup
Mix all ingredients and cook until very foamy (about 5
minutes). Pour over cake while still hot in pan. Let stand
overnight.
