                            APPLE DAPPLE CAKE

  2                     eggs
  2               cups  white sugar
  1                cup  cooking oil
  3               cups  all-purpose flour (scant)
     1/2      teaspoon  salt
  1           teaspoon  soda
  3               cups  chopped apples
  2          teaspoons  vanilla
                        Chopped nuts (optional)

Mix together the eggs, sugar and oil, and add the flour, salt and soda
which have been sifted together. Add the chopped apples, vanilla and
nuts. Mix the batter well (it will be rather thick) and pour it into a
greased cake pan. Bake it at 350ยบ for 45 minutes or until done. 

Icing 

1 cup brown sugar 
1/4 cup milk 
1/4 cup butter or margarine 

Combine the sugar, milk and butter, and cook the mixture for 2 1/2
minutes. Stir it a little after removing it from the stove, but do not
beat it. Dribble it over the cake while it and the cake are still 
hot. A
few chopped nuts may be sprinkled over the icing.
