@Dr. Loboto Not all pages have two columns, and some may have more in the future so I add columns in my views as needed. Every section of the site has different side content.
@Zaky Very deep, and very true. I think RequestAction() deserves to be given a fair crack of the whip, my concern was that I could retrieve a lot of the data that I needed to send to my sidebar at the same time as retrieving the main views data, but using RequestAction() means I can make the data calls for the sidebars more independant with their own action.
