I've been stumped on the same problem, in an instance where I'm using
$this->passedArgs

But reading this I just has a brainwave - I just added on another item
to the end of the array - seems to work fine.

$this->passedArgs['#'] = 'album-image-gallery';

$paginator->options(array('url' => $this->passedArgs));
