Since we have spent some time over the last week optimizing, I figured
I would run some more tests. I really don't like "ab" as a utility. I
have trouble believing that it accurately tells us what is happening.
For one, I think mod_rewrite has an effect on the stats. IF someone
can prove otherwise please tell me, but instead I prefer to use JoeDog
Siege. http://www.joedog.org/JoeDog/Siege

So here are my results.

Some things to keep in mind...I did my best to be fair, but I may have
also missed some important steps. Given that this was not a serious
push to benchmark yet and more of a rough idea, I decided not to make
the effort to configure and setup Symfony. We have also pinpointed a
few more areas where we can improve 1.2, so we will continue to
perform these comparisons over the next few weeks. If someone wants to
send me a completely configure symfony package, I will gladly add it
to the list. Also, if anyone else has siege installed and wants to
compare feel free to post your results.

Bake on, the Cake is rising.
